Charles Everett Sneed, Jr., the son of the late Marion T. Sneed and Charles E. Sneed, Sr. was born October 2, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida.

He attend the public schools of Duval County, graduating from Matthew W. Gilbert High School in 1958.

After graduating from Gilbert, he continued his education at EWC (Edward Waters College) receiving a B.S. Degree General Science in 1966.

Shortly there after Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war in the medical corps in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

Returning home he was employed as a recreation director for 38 years.

His hobbies were reading, listening and singing music, especially jazz.

Charles met and married Frances Southerland in 1970. From this union, two sons were born, Charles III and Walter.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Charles Sr., and Marion Sneed, a son, Walter L. Sneed and a brother, Warren Sneed.

Charles leave to cherish is wife of 47 years, Frances and son Charles III (Jasmine), brother Richard (Easter), sister Alma Threadcraft (Milton) and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

A visitation will be on Wednesday June 21, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32225.

Funeral services will be on Thursday June 22, 2017 at 11:00am at the Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, 215 Bethel Baptist Street Jacksonville, FL 32202.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home

Interment will be at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens.
